Dr. Howard J Luks, MD serves as the Chief of Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Westchester Medical Center and is an Assistant Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at New York Medical College.
Dr Luks specializes in sports medicine and arthroscopy; many of his patients are professional, college or high school athletes, while most are weekend warriors.
He specializes in Sports Trauma, Meniscus Repairs, ACL reconstruction, Tendon Tears and Rotator Cuff Tears.
Dr Luks is strongly committed to Evidence-Based Medicine, patient education, and shared decision-making. He values communication with his patients and makes every effort to focus on you and your particular needs.
Knowledge is power – and it is not to be feared.
He maintains a blog on his website, and is committed to patient education and the advances in information technology that allow for better-informed patients and better-informed physicians.
Dr Luks wants you to understand that not all MRI findings require surgery, regardless of what they show … there are frequently non-surgical solutions and options. When surgery is necessary, he wants to provide you with a wealth of information to supplement what he has told you in the office, so you can actively participate in the decision making process.
Dr Luks firmly believes that a better educated patient will ultimately be a healthier patient. That is the basic premise of shared decision making.
When he’s not working or reading about work, he enjoys playing with his children, the sun, the beach, the ocean, gardening, and golf.
Dr. Luks specializes in the following knee treatments and procedures:
- ACL reconstruction
- Meniscal repair
- Cartilage regeneration
